Our Awards
Since our foundation in 2006, we have won several local, regional and national awards in recognition of our work in helping vulnerable members of our society. We believe this shows the dedication of our team in the work that they do and that we are committed to making a real difference to the lives of those suffering from personal hardships.
Queens Award for Voluntary Service
In 2014, Compassion in Action were honoured to be the winners of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, which is an MBE for volunteer groups. The award was for meeting the needs of people in crisis and giving hope to the most vulnerable in our society.
The Paul Goggins Memorial Prize
In 2014, we were a runner up for the Paul Goggins Memorial Prize for the best civil society initiative that can demonstrate that it has reduced poverty in a tangible way. We were nominated for this by The RT. Hon. Andy Burnham MP for Leigh.
Wish FM Local Hero Award
In 2011, Compassion in Action were voted the winners of Wish FM’s Local Hero Award for charitable act of the year.
GMCC Excellence Awards 2021
The inaugural GMCC Excellence Awards – created and hosted by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce – saw Compassion in Action receive an Excellence Badge in recognition of their efforts during 2021.
GMCC Excellence Awards 2023
The GMCC Excellence Awards – created and hosted by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce – saw Compassion in Action receive Finalist recognition in the ‘Charity Initiative of the Year’ category, reflecting the charity’s work in establishing therapeutic wellbeing centres.
Positive Action Awards Northwest
In 2010, Compassion in Action were winners of the Positive Action Award for providing an invaluable support service to the community.
Wigan Business of the Year Award 2012
In 2012, Compassion in Action were winners of the Greater Manchester Chamber of commerce Wigan Business Awards.
Armed Forces Covenant
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
